 Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Owner

The CFO is a British National and UK-qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with more than 15 years of experience at the global accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). This included working as a Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe

At PwC, he practised in corporate international taxation and has been CFO of several multi-million dollar companies including telecoms, real estate and global commodity financing. He has worked in more than 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

Executive Chairman and Owner

The Executive Chairman is a Stanford-trained American physician who served as a professor of medicine for more than 30 years. Since his retirement from medicine, he has led multiple successful companies in the US and Asia as the CEO, Executive Director, or Managing Director. He is a humanitarian and a philanthropist focused on safe working conditions, clean drinking water, food security, improved healthcare, fair wages, and universal education for our Kutenda artisanal miners and their families across multiple continents, including extensive work in central Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia.

Joseph Kayembe

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Is an African national with a strong background in mining and a degree in International Business. He brings extensive networks across multiple African countries and has secured reliable, legally compliant, and fully documented gold supply channels for export to the UAE. His regional expertise and on-ground relationships are vital to Kutenda’s sourcing strategy and operational success.

  • Raised in the copper and cobalt mines of Lubumbashi, DRC
  • Fluent in Lingala, Swahili, French, and English
  • Multiple corporate positions, including National Manager for Enviroserve Waste Management in Kinshasa, DRC
  • Former Principal Assistant to a Special Envoy of the President. Also, previously a strategic consultant to the Special Advisor on the Environment for the Office of the President in DRC. Deep expertise on the environmental impact of precious metals mining.
  • Permanent Resident of the UAE in Dubai. Not a PEP.
